During Covid-19 the Candle Festival as we know it has been cancelled, we can announce that it will still be possible to attend Lennox Gardens and strike the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell this coming weekend. The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin has been asked by Events Canberra to make the striker available for public ringing’s on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October in lieu of the Candle Festival. We will be at the Peace Bell from 11.00am–3.00pm each day.
This provides you with the opportunity to take the time to safely walk through Lennox Gardens — which is looking wonderful — and send your own message of Peace to the world by striking the Peace Bell. We will have COVID-19 safe practices in place with social distancing employed and hand sanitiser available. The striker will be wiped between ringings.
We would appreciate a small donation to assist with our Rotary Peace Projects while you make your visit. The Candle Festival has previously been a long-term fundraiser for our Rotary Club.
We encourage you to take the time to attend the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell and join us in this opportunity to celebrate our Sister City relationship with Nara Japan. You can also help demonstrate community support for Canberra as a peaceful city.
Hope to see you and your family on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October between 11.00am–3.00pm each day.
