The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin (RCCBG) would appreciate assistance to operate the Japan Earthquake event and also the Hiroshima event — in future — from any group connected with Japan, or any individual who would care to help. The increasing effort to maintain our high quality level of community service delivery is under stress. Please help by signing up on our website at www.canberrarotarypeacebell.org/peace-polls/.
The RCCBG also would welcome any community group wishing us to arrange their own events and ringing’s at the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell to contact us at www.canberrarotarypeacebell.org/tours/.
There is currently a program called Rotary 100 to celebrate 100 years of Rotary Service in Australia due in April 2021. The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin is attempting to donate a Peace Pole to each school that makes a tour of Lennox Gardens and the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell. So far, we have been speaking with 36 Schools from around Australia. The goal is to see 100 Peace Poles placed in 100 Schools by 2021.
Schools receiving Peace Poles have ranged from North Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales country and the ACT.
To date, only five ACT Schools have become involved in the program and we would love to encourage more ACT Schools to take up this opportunity. Five out of 36 is a fair percentage, but we recon Canberra can do better.
Please nominate a school you are involved with by emailing Michael at michaelprabey@gmail.com or by phoning 0411 367 700 and speak to Michael.
