World Scout Day was celebrated at the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell on Wednesday evening 1 August 2018. Around 270 Scouts, Cubs, Joeys and Rovers and their leaders gathered under the stars and beside a beautifully lit Canberra Rotary Peace Bell. Those gathered heard from the Chief Commissioner of Scouts ACT, Rick Goode who lead those present in reciting the Scout pledge. Dr Sue Wareham spoke of the work of ICAN (the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) and she congratulated all for the work being done in Scouting, suggesting it all counts toward a better making the world a better and safer place. Michael Rabey from Rotary suggested each person can make a difference by following their dreams and passions through to completion. The evening was well coordinated by Anna Davies from Rover Scouts and her team of supporters and the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin managed to feed the hungry Scouts and Cubs with a welcome sausage sandwich.

A great evening was had by all.
